USEFULNESS
|
The 'ECHO CHAMBER' is a latest development especially designed to meet the increasing requirements of stage performing or Orchestra artists. A discriminating artist can get excellent 'sound effects' by this unit.
Echo/Reverberation Effects generated by the chamber can be Cassette recorded giving excellent 'live performance' effect on reproduction. You might have noticed sponsored advertisements on Radio & TV using such effects, which are very pleasing to the listener and give a 'Live effect'.
With little knowledge, experience and practice anybody can adjust controls as explained below for best results and a very 'Live' performance.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
|
This echo uses Bucket Brigade MOS type, 4096-stage shift register Integrated Circuit. The audio signal applied at the input of the IC is stepped up stage by stage by a Clock, until it comes out delayed after a discrete interval of time. The delayed signal when fed back to the input simulates the echoes in a reverberant room. Adding the delayed signal to the original gives the desired reverberation effect.
ECM-4 has facility of 4-Mike Inputs with Sensitivity between -10dB to -50dB. Output is -20dB/600 ohms and Delay Output is -10dB. It can give a delaytime between 20 milli second to 320 milli second.
ECHO section has three controls namely "VOLUME”, "INTENSITY" & "REPEAT RATE".
VOLUME is a sort of balance control between DIRECT and ECHO sound. The amount of original or Direct sound with the Echo or effect sound can be varied with this control. At pt no. 4, the DIRECT sound and ECHO sound are at a level of 50% each.
INTENSITY control varies the delay time. Increasing this will provide more delay time.
REPEAT RATE controls the no. of echoes in the selected delay time. Increasing this will give more number of echoes while reducing it will give few echoes.
A TONE CONTROL has been provided to give Bass and Treble effect.
5 LED Input Level Indicator has been provided for setting maximum distortion free input levels.

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE
|
get the best result out of your ECHO, please follow the instructions step-by-step as written.
Four mikes either LO-Z or HI-Z can be connected to either of the four mike inputs MIC-1 or MIC-4. Connect unit to 220V AC or 12V DC.
1. First connect the Mike to MIC-1 or any other input Jack at the front plate. Keep respective INPUT VOLUME on front plate at pt. no.4.
2. Connect OUTPUT socket (DIRECT+ECHO) to MIKE Input of any amplifier.
3. Keep ECHO VOLUME at pt. No.4. Keep INTENSITY also at pt.no.4. Keep REPEAT RATE at pt.no.8.
4. At this setting, a nice REVERBERATED EFFECT SOUND OR HALL EFFECT shall be heard. Around 50% direct and 50% echoed sound is mixed to create this effect.
5. Slowly decreasing REPEAT RATE shall increase no. of ECHOES. Adjust control as per desired echoes.
6. Increasing INTENSITY control shall increase delaytime. Adjust control as desired.
7. FOOT SW is abbreviation of FOOT switch. This gives fixed delay of –10dB. From this socket, only delayed or EFFECT OUTPUT can also be taken.
With slight practice, you shall be able to create different sound effects using these three effect controls. 220V AC, 24V Car Battery or any cell tray providing 24V DC can operate the unit. You can join AC as well as 24V battery together. When AC is available, the unit will work on AC but if AC is not there, then the unit will AUTOMATICALLY work on Battery. |
