| |
SPECIFICATION |
| USEFULNESS & OPERATION
|
Today’s age is age of recreation. Listening of MUSIC has become extremely popular. Particularly in all Mobile vehicles like Trains, Tourist Coaches, Mini buses etc., Tourist desire music entertainment to pass journey time comfortably.
Even in all types of vehicles like trucks, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), playing of cassette is most common to provide entertainment, avoid fatigue & boredom of drivers.
Recently, Indian Govt. has sanctioned 150 FM Radio stations at different locations all over India. In most Metros & ‘B’ grade cities, it is already started. Shortly it shall be available all over INDIA. The advantage of FM is its clarity and listener has choice to select from a no. of FM stations.
On customer’s demand we have developed exclusive MOBILE PLAYERS models WITH FM RADIO, ARA-360EM & ARA-340EM. Both have FM TUNING FACILITY, just TUNE the desired FM Station wherever FM transmission is available.
Both models are suitable to fit any type of vehicle on road. The especiality of both these sets is that they use AUTO REVERSE TAPE DECK MECHANISM. As ‘A’ side finishes, this auto reverse mechanism automatically shifts play to side ‘B’ of cassette. Again when ‘B’ side finishes, the mechanism will automatically shift play to side ‘A’ and so on. A MIKE stage is in place to amplify sound for Public Addressing.
Model ARA-360EM is especially designed for use in Tourist / Travel Coaches / Buses. The size is suitable to fit in the dickey above the head of driver or on a platform at the back of driver or may be fitted on the dashboard itself.
Model ARA-340EM is especially designed for Light Medium Vehicles (LMVs) TATA 1109, 709, 608, 407,Tempo Traveller, Swaraj Mazda etc. The outer size of this model has been specially designed to fit in the dashboard of all these models.
Both sets are operated on 12V Car Battery.

| SPEAKER / HORN SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
|
IMPORTANT: - From our past experience of over 50 yrs., it has been observed that poor sound quality & a majority of defects in amplifiers are due to WRONG SPEAKER CONNECTIONS. SELECTION OF SPEAKERS AND THEIR CORRECT CONNECTIONS TO THE AMPLIFIER is the key to the successful use / operation of the whole Public Address Installation. For guidance, please refer to a separate sheet ‘SELECTION OF SPEAKERS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS’ attached. Some basic points are briefed as under:-
1. The output wires coming from Output Speaker Tapings of the amplifier should not short. This is fatal, as firstly it will stop the sound output from the speakers. Secondly, it will seriously damage the amplifier. Its DC fuse will be blown off immediately, needing a replacement. As such, please ensure that output wires do not short at
a) Output terminal strip.
b) In the connection wires
c) At Horn / Speaker end.
2. Wires used to connect driver units/ speakers on DIRECT SPEAKER tapings should be thick (app. 23x36 size).
3. When a number of speaker / units are to be connected, connect them suitably to make a nett impedance i.e. the nett output of all such speaker / units should be just two wires. One of these has to go to COM terminal & other to 4 OR 8W. Or alternatively one to COM and other to 70V line. Or alternatively one to COM and other to 70V OR 100V line The same is explained with examples in ‘SELECTION OF SPEAKER’ sheet attached.
4. For safety of speakers/units, the total nett power handling capacity must be more than that of amplifier.
5. Connect all speaker/units at the Output FIRST and only after those connect the DC or battery lead from the battery terminal at backplate to Car battery terminals.
WARNING: - When a set of speakers are to be connected to the amplifier, if on Direct tapping, one COM terminal is to be used everytime. But it is important to use ONLY ONE TERMINAL OUT OF 4W, 8W, 70V OR 100V.

MICROPHONE INPUT |
| It has a LO-Z mike input. MIKE is selectable with TAPE. When using mikes keep the switch at MIKE side. While using TAPE slide the switch towards TAPE side. |
|
|
| |
| TONE CONTROL |
A tone control which permit shaping of desired tonal quality of Music & Speech. For speakers, keep this between 8 to 10.
For Horn Speakers, keep between 0 to 5. |
|
|
| |
| FM RADIO RECEPTION |
For enjoying FM Music, Eject cassette and keep MIKE / TAPE Volume to ‘0’ position. Slide FM ‘OFF-ON’ switch to ‘ON’ position. Adjust FM TUNE knob to select desired FM Station. Set FM Volume to desired level. For best FM reception, connect a Car Aerial to ‘FM Aerial’ terminal at the backplate. |

| SPEAKER OUTPUTS
|
DIRECT SPEAKER CONNECTIONS: - COM 4W 8W OUTPUT terminals have been provided for direct connections of speakers. Normally all tourist buses fix upto six speakers inside. We recommend use of our 6” CAR SPEAKER of 16W impedance. Wire all speakers in parallel and finally connect to COM 4W terminal.
Alternatively, the player can feed HORN SPEAKERS fixed at the roof of the buses. Select from our Models SUH-25, UHC-25 or UHC-30. Use at least two of them to match amplifier wattage. Wire in parallel and finally join to COM 4W terminal.
COM-70V or COM-100V LINE: - Use this when using Speakers / Horn speakers with built-in Line Matching Transformers. In this speaker matching is very easy. Just add wattage of speakers to be equal to amplifier and connect all in parallel and finally to COM-70V or 100V line. For inside of bus, use our CEILING SPEAKER CS-564T. It has nice finish, which matches perfectly with BUS décor. For fixing on roof, select among Horn speakers SUH-25XT, UHC-25XT etc. |

| OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
|
1. AUTO REVERSE TAPE DECK OPERATION: - After connecting speakers and car battery, switch on the power switch, the LED should glow. Insert a good quality cassette into the deck compartment. The inside deck mechanism shall pull the cassette and place it automatically on the deck. and play will start immediately.
2. < PROG > knob: - This knob is to select the side ‘A’ or side ‘B’ of the cassette. On one side there is ‘GREEN LED” and on other ‘RED LED”. As the cassette is under play, as per the left or right direction any one LED shall be glowing. If knob is pushed once, the direction or side of cassette shall shift from ‘A’ to ‘B’ or vice versa.
3. EJECT << >> knobs: - These two knobs perform two functions. Suppose PROG. LED is on < (RED), then when << knob is pressed, the cassette will fast reverse. Similarly when PROG. LED is on > (GREEN) & >> knob is pressed, the cassette shall fast forward. Pushing down both these knobs together shall EJECT the cassette from the compartment.
4. Precaution should be taken not to use any low quality cassette manufactured by non-standard companies selling in the market. The outer casings of such cassettes are not correct in size. As such, they jam inside the deck. Moreover, due to poor manufacturing process the red coating on the tape is removed and deposits on the Play head, hampering greatly sound output of the player.
5. MICROPHONES: - Use LO-Z microphone. All ROXY mikes are LO-Z and match perfectly with amplifier. Keep MIKE / TAPE slide switch towards MIKE side. To test sound, never blow into the mike, instead speak 1,2,3. We advice to keep distance between MOUTH and MIKE to app. 10-15 cms. Recommended Mike Model is MM-60.
6. DC FUSE: - If any operating mistake such as Car battery connected wrongly or speaker wires shorting each other, the DC fuse provided in the battery RED wire at the back of player shall be blown-off or fused. If blown, replace it with fresh fuse of 5A rating. We have provided two extra fuses with amplifier for replacement purpose.
