| USEFULNESS & OPERATION
|
In today’s age recreation / playing of MUSIC while travelling has become extremely popular. It maybe Airplane, Railway, Bus or Car, Cassette playing or Microphone announcements in Tourist Bus by Guide has become absolutely necessary.
However, in certain places in addition to above use of SIREN is desired. In that case you have to fit an additional SIREN amplifier.
This Model ARA-360EM with Siren actually combines practically all-MOBILE requirements. You can use SIREN, or can play cassettes using AUTO REVERSE cassette player or listen to FM RADIO or there are microphone-input stage to amplify microphone sound for public addressing.
The especiality of this model is it uses AUTO REVERSE DECK MECHANISM. As ‘A’ side of ‘Cassette Tape’ finishes, the auto reverse mechanism automatically shifts play to side ‘B’. Again when side ‘B’ finishes, the mechanism will shift play to side ‘A’ and so on.
Model ARA-360EM with Siren is especially designed for use in ELECTION vehicles. It can be fitted in Scorpio, Sumo, Jeep, Ambassador or any other vehicle. The size is small to fit under the dashboard as desired place.
While operating say Cassette, keep Siren off. Similarly while using Siren, eject cassette and keep Mike/Tape volume to ‘0’. While using Mike, keep Siren off and eject cassette.
The set is operated on 12V Car Battery.

| SPEAKER / HORN SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
|
As stated above SELECTION OF SPEAKERS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS TO THE AMPLIFIER is the key to the successful use / operation of the whole Public Address Installation. For guidance, please refer to a separate sheet ‘SELECTION OF SPEAKERS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS’ attached. Some basic points are briefed as under:-
1. The output wires coming from Output Speaker Tapings of the amplifier should not short. This is fatal, as firstly it will stop the sound output from the speakers. Secondly, it will seriously damage the amplifier. Its DC fuse will be blown off immediately, needing a replacement. As such, please ensure that output wires do not short at
a) Output terminal strip.
b) In the connection wires
c) At driver unit / speaker end.
2. Wires used to connect driver units/ speakers on DIRECT SPEAKER tapings should be thick (app. 23x36 size).
3. When a number of speaker / units are to be connected, connect them suitably to make a nett impedance i.e. the nett output of all such speaker / units should be just two wires. One of these has to go to COM terminal & other to 4 or 8W. Or alternatively one to COM and other to 70V or 100V line. The same is explained with examples in ‘Selection of speaker and their connections’ sheet attached.
4. For safety of speakers/units, the total nett power handling capacity must be more than that of amplifier.
5. Connect all speaker/units at the Output FIRST and only after those connect the DC or battery lead from the battery terminal at backplate to Car battery terminals.
6. WARNING: - When a set of speakers are to be connected to the amplifier, if on Direct tapping, one COM terminal is to be used everytime. But it is important to use ONLY ONE TERMINAL OUT OF 4W, or 8W.

INPUT |
It has one mike input. It is LO-Z or low impedance (200-600 ohms) mike stage. A LO-Z stage allows you to extend the length of mike wire upto 30 meters.
MIKE is selectable with Tape. When using MIKE keep the switch at MIKE side. When using TAPE slide the switch towards TAPE side. |

| SIREN |
A Yelping Sound Siren is built-in. A SIREN volume control with SIREN On-Off switch is provided. To operate SIREN, just Switch-on the Siren volume and select volume of your requirement. Keep volume sufficient enough as required by Horn Speakers. Excessive volume can damage the Horn Speakers. |

| FM RADIO |
One of the best sources of continuous 24-hour entertainment now days is FM RADIO. A fully tunable FM RADIO has been fitted-in. Wherever you are, if FM reception is available, your set shall catch the signal and you shall have the pleasure to listen to such Music. We recommend use of Car Aerial for top reception. Fix one wire from Aerial Terminal to Car Aerial fixed outside of your vehicle. |

| OUTPUTS
|
DIRECT SPEAKER CONNECTIONS: - COM 4W 8W OUTPUT terminals have been provided for direct connections of speakers and driver units at the back of the player.
Normally all ELECTION announcement vehicles require two to four Horn Speakers like our Models SUH-25 or SUH-15 to be fixed at the roof of the vehicle. They can be fixed on Carriage or permanently fixed on the roof with nuts & bolts. When two of any of above two models is to be connected. Join them in parallel & connect to COM 4 W terminal.
COM-70V-100V LINE: - If four Horn Speakers (can be used for two also) are desired, we recommend use of Horn Speakers with Line Matching Transformers. Use our Models SUH-25XT, SUH-15XT. Join all in parallel and connect to COM 70V or COM 100V Line provided at back. Output in 70V tapping is just half of COM 100V. Select desired tapping.
IMPORTANT: - Poor sound quality & a majority of defects in amplifiers are due to WRONG SPEAKER CONNECTIONS. It is therefore very important to do correct connections. Study Selection of speaker’s sheet attached.

| OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
|
1. AUTO REVERSE DECK OPERATION: - After connecting speakers and car battery, switch on the power switch, the LED should glow. Insert a good quality cassette into the deck compartment. The inside deck mechanism shall pull the cassette and place it automatically on the deck. and play will start immedaitely.
2. < PROG > knob: - This knob is to select the side ‘A’ or side ‘B’ of the cassette. On one side there is ‘GREEN LED” and on other ‘RED LED”. As the cassette is under play, as per the left or right direction any one LED shall be glowing. If knob is pushed once, the direction or side of cassette shall shift from ‘A’ to ‘B’ or vice versa.
3. EJECT << >> knobs: - These two knobs perform two functions. Suppose PROG. LED is on < (RED), then when << knob is pressed, the cassette will fast reverse. Similarly when PROG. LED is on > (GREEN) & >> knob is pressed, the cassette shall fast forward. Pushing down both these knobs together shall EJECT the cassette from the compartment.
4. Precaution should be taken not to use any low quality cassette manufactured by non-standard companies selling in the market. The outer casings of such cassettes are not correct in size. As such, they jam inside the deck. Moreover, due to poor manufacturing process the red coating on the tape is removed and deposits on the Play head, hampering greatly sound output of the player.
5. MICROPHONES: - Use LO-Z mike on microphone stage. All ROXY mikes are LO-Z and match perfectly with amplifier. Keep slide switch at Mike side. Never blow into the mikes. Speak 1,2,3 instead while testing. While speaking keep the distance between mike and mouth to app. 10-15 cms. Recommended Model MM-60.
6. DC FUSE: - If any operating mistake such as Car battery connected wrongly or speaker wires shorting each other, the DC fuse provided in the battery RED wire at the back of player shall be blown-off or fused. If blown, replace it with one of correct rating.
